THOUSANDS OF REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS ARE BOOKING ROOMS AT THE CROWNE PLAZA RESORT.
It's time for the 18th annual East Texas Herpetological Society Expo and Conference which takes place this weekend (Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14) at the Crowne Plaza Resort, 12803 Northwest Freeway. If you're thinking: "Too Scary!", there's no reason to be afraid of these guys: not only do they help control deadly insect pests and disease-carrying vermin, but they are also being used in research to help develop cures for many medical conditions that afflict mankind. And all displays are kid friendly and many are interactive if you want them to be!
This event is for serious reptile enthusiasts as noted herpetologists and herpetoculturists present lectures, however, this Sunday is the Breeder Expo/Sale and Educational Exhibit from 11am-5pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to see, purchase and learn about their favorite live reptiles and amphibians, and all the trappings necessary to their good health. Items available for sale, from around the country, will include live captive born snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs, and reptile equipment, caging, books, T-shirts, jewelry....
There will be no venomous or dangerous animals allowed at the expo and Houston city ordinances prohibit the sale or display of snakes that will attain a length of 8 feet or longer. An educational exhibit featuring live reptiles and amphibians of the area will also be on view to give area residents a chance to observe their cold-blooded neighbors in a protected setting. The educational exhibit is free to everyone and will also include hourly presentations featuring live reptiles with question and answer sessions afterwards.
