COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS glowfish enterprises™ is an educational company founded by two moms which is dedicated to empowering and equipping communities through workshops, consultations and educational materials. Mary Ellen Wolf is a twenty-five year international education expert and Sarah Gish is a twenty-year marketing guru. glowfish enterprises™ was created as an outreach of both founder’s ongoing projects. Mrs. Wolf’s lifelong dedication to educational philosophies that expand children’s minds beyond their community have been incorporated into the syllabus of “Operating Instructions”, as has her knowledge drawn from workshop presentations throughout North America. Mrs. Wolf has and continues to work with a number of educational organizations, including the International Baccalaureate Organization, Teach for America, the Houston Annenberg & Carnegie Foundation, the University of Hawai´I, the Honolulu Police Department and a number of school districts throughout the country. She also served as the North American International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program upper school presenter, workshop leader and educational consultant for the IBO Head of School and IB Coordination. Ms. Gish has long been passionate about marketing and marketing education – as well as informing parents about resources for families in the Houston community. Due to the positive community response to her proprietary media, THE SUMMER BOOK® and GISH PICKS, Sarah felt a need to reach out to parents and children directly and to share her passion for helping children and families increase the quality of their lives. Additionally, both leaders have lived around the world – and because of this, wanted to emphasize the importance of global thinking when raising children. Their community workshop series is “Operating Instructions (Because Kids Don’t Come with Manuals!)”, which is designed to connect teachers, parents and the community – a by-product of the workshops will be the interaction among the parents attending. Mary Ellen and Sarah will begin each workshop by discussing specific characteristics needed in ordered for children to become well-rounded global citizens and each workshop will feature a relevant local speaker. The focus of the workshops will be ways to create a continuum in each child’s education from elementary school to college for private, public or home-schooled families. A variety of parenting topics will be covered and all workshops will be taught using teacher-training techniques, helping to bridge the home, school and community gaps. Attendees will explore these timeless topics alongside pertinent twenty-first century concerns while getting tools that can be used daily with children. All sessions from the series (as well as other topics) can be presented by glowfish enterprises™ on-site at any venue; fees will vary depending upon class size, venue location, and topic(s) covered.
