A little more about The Summer Book® Online creator, Sarah Gish. (Click on image to view video).

Welcome to Houston’s best guide to getting your kids offline, The Summer Book® Online! I’m Sarah Gish, the owner of Gish Creative, and a mom that desperately needed help finding summer camps back in 2003. I’m also an infopreneur who loves research so I went out with my team and hunted down all the summer day camp information I could find, information that I compiled into this guide and that is carefully updated every year. We are very proud of our directory and know that you’ll love it! Since the camp world is changing all the time — as are the needs of parents — if you see a category we should add or if there is something that would make searching for camps easier for you, please let us know by emailing me (sarah@gishcreative.com).

The Summer Book® Online is here to help so you don’t stress out over summer planning anymore. Take a deep breath, grab a cup of coffee, and let your fingers do the looking. Our extensive searchable database contains information on Houston summer day camps that has been gathered over a decade while researching entries for our unique proprietary book, The Summer Book®: A Guide to Houston Day Camps and Classes for Kids and Teens, which was first printed in 2003 and now is online here. We have organized these camps for you using several categories, and you can also see our complete list of camps here. Whether you’re looking for camps by subject, age range, price range, or more – we can help!

Two more things: if you need help finding year-round family fun, please check out GISH PICKS: A GUIDE TO CULTURAL ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES, our free weekly e-newsletter/blog where we pick three cool events in the greater Houston area to highlight each week. It’s fast fun for free! And if you need a speaker to talk to your group about summertime fun or family frivolity or many other things – check out my list of services and topics here and feel free to contact me (sarah@gishcreative.com) for more information or to book a visit to your group in person. It is my goal to ignite people’s lives (check out www.igniteyourownlife.com, and you’ll see what I mean!) — and helping kids explore their passions through summer camps or helping families enjoy their time together — are great ways to do that.

Weeks of:
Cost: $501 to $750
Our natural love of storytelling is the foundation for self-discovery, self-confidence, and self-regulation. In developmentally appropriate workshops for ages 4 to 11 year-olds, psychotherapists Victoria Jones and Dr. Catherine Boswell have developed a workshop to help children succeed in a world that favors perfectionism and competition. The tools for insight and growth will be storytelling, creative movement, acting, mindfulness meditation, play, drawing, painting, singing, games, puzzling, and bookmaking. The workshop goals include: 1) Helping your child find and protect her/his strengths which often lie outside current testing measures in standard school subjects; 2) Helping your child manage big feelings rather than bury or express inappropriately; 3) Helping your child preserve kindness and acceptance in an often binary social order--those deemed acceptable and those who are not; 4) Helping your child learn basics of healthy communication and healthy boundaries necessary for rewarding relationships. The workshops are from 9:00 am-12:00 noon; early and late care are available for an additional fee.
